The Scam (Fox & O’Hare, #4) by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg

Synopsis:

Nicolas Fox is a charming con man and master thief on the run. Kate O’Hare is the FBI agent who is hot on his trail. At least that’s what everyone thinks. In reality, Fox and O’Hare are secretly working together to bring down super-criminals the law can’t touch. Criminals like brutal casino magnate Evan Trace.

Evan Trace is running a money-laundering operation through his casino in Macau. Some of his best customers are mobsters, dictators, and global terrorists. Nick and Kate will have to go deep undercover as high-stakes gamblers, wagering millions of dollars—and their lives—in an attempt to topple Trace’s empire.

It’s a scam that will take Fox and O’Hare from the Las Vegas strip, to the sun-soaked beaches of Oahu’s North Shore, and into the dark back alleys of Macau. Their only backup—a self-absorbed actor, a Somali pirate, and Kate’s father, and an ex-soldier who believes a rocket launcher is the best way to solve every problem. What could possibly go wrong?

Review:

First off, I need to start with stating I am a HUGE Janet Evanovich fan because of the Stephanie Plum books. I can’t read those books without laughing out loud. I was worried to see a new series and hesitant to be let down from one of my favorite authors…I don’t know what I was worried about! This series is dynamite! Yes, each story has the same basic setup, Nick the conman and 10th on the America’s Most Wanted List and Kate, the kick-butt FBI Agent, team up in secret to find the “untouchable” bad guys, scam the bad guys, with the help of their band of misfits and avoid their mounting attraction to each other. The Scam has a lot of twists and turns and makes for one heck of a ride, but is pulled together in the end, with a whopper of a cliffhanger. I can’t wait until #5 comes out!

This is the fourth book in this series, but can be read as a standalone book. However, you will want to go back and read the first three as well, as sometimes there are mentions from past books and it might be a bit confusing if you miss out on some of the fun from the beginning!

Overall, like all the books in the Fox & O’Hare Series, this book was fabulous. Sometimes as series goes along there are some books that don’t deliver, but that is NOT the case with this series, every book in this series is pure awesomeness! The Fox & O’Hare series books are entertaining, fun, fast-paced reading with great writing enhanced by an enjoyable story lines and the most amazing characters!

I received an ARC of this book, from NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley!!
