Bella’s Christmas Bake Off by Sue Watson
Two best friends. One big lie. The best bake off EVER.
Bella Bradley is the queen of television baking – a national treasure. Her Christmas specials have been topping the ratings for years and her marriage to Peter ‘Silver Fox’ Bradley is the stuff of Hello magazine specials.
But this year things are going to be different.
For Amy Lane, Bella’s best friend from school, life hasn’t held quite the same sparkle. And when Amy’s husband walks out three weeks from Christmas, it seems their lives are further apart than ever.
Amy has watched Bella’s rise to fame fondly, despite the fact Bella was always a terrible cook. But when she realizes that Bella’s latest Christmas book is made up entirely of Amy’s mother’s recipes, the gloves are off…
After winning a competition to appear on Bella’s TV show, Amy is going to make sure that for Bella and her viewers, this will definitely be a Christmas to remember…
This was my first introduction to Sue Watson, and I can tell you I can’t wait to add more of her books to my Kindle! This book draws you into the spirit of Christmas and gets you ready for the Holidays. This book was so entertaining on so many levels. I laughed, I cried and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! This is a story of life, death, love, secrets, jealousy, and at the heart of it all, friendship. This books holds so much emotion, yet it is very fun to read. It will remind every reader what is important in life and ultimately, that life is what we make of it.
I loved seeing the characters change and grow, and Sue Watson did a fabulous job of building realistic changes within the characters in a reasonable amount of time so that you actually get to see them grow, it wasn’t just an overnight I am changed character, there was real growth and struggle. That is what helped to endure me and really root for these characters. The whole cast of characters truly helped build this story to its wonderfulness.
Overall, Bella’s Christmas Bake Off was a fun read with good writing enhanced by an enjoyable story line and lovable characters! An absolute must-holiday read!
I received an ARC of this book, from NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.
