Coffeehouse manager and reluctant sleuth Juliet Langley returns in a gripping novel from the bestselling author of Death Before Decaf and Mug Shot. Just as things are perking up in Nashville, a serial killer sends tensions foaming over.
Juliet’s personal and professional lives have recently received an extra jolt of energy. Her romance with the hunky detective Ryder Hamilton continues to simmer, and business at Java Jive has never been better. But her good mood quickly turns as stale as day-old espresso when she finds out that Ryder has been promoted to his precinct’s homicide division. With him risking his life to catch the worst kind of criminals, Juliet’s growing sense of unease ignites when a local college student goes missing.
Suddenly every Nashville resident is on high alert, especially Juliet’s neighbor Chelsea. Juliet does her best to calm the girl’s nerves, but her worst fears are confirmed when she finds Chelsea dead. Even though she tries her best to stay out of it, Juliet’s involvement puts a strain on Ryder’s first homicide case. The situation soon becomes even more personal for Juliet and her best friend Pete Bennett when one of their employees disappears during her shift. As a killer lurks in the shadows, Juliet, Pete, and Ryder seek out a double shot of justice.

I am not new to this series at all, I was fortunate enough to have been introduced right from the start. I have also had the pleasure of reviewing both previous books in the series as well, Death Before Decaf and Mug Shot. I was immediately interested in this series because the first book was deemed “perfect for Janet Evanovich fans”, which I am, immensely. I found that statement to be very true and I have enjoyed this series to the hilt, so I jumped at the opportunity to join this Book Tour and start reading book 3, A Whole Latte Murder!
The story line was again well written, hilarious and well-plotted. The twists in this book were awesome and can we just say, “action-packed”?! I had a hard time putting this book down, but I didn’t want it to end. The characters are continuing to develop and Juliet I feel is finally feeling comfortable in her skin, which makes for a great lead character! The witty banter between Juliet and Pete has made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. I love their chemistry and developing relationship. There is some adult language in this book, but no graphic violence or explicit sexual situations. This book felt darker than the previous two, and at times less cozy-ish, however I loved it even more for that and it still flowed and was true to the overall series and characters.
Overall, A Whole Latte Murder was an action-packed, fast read with excellent writing enhanced by an edge of your seat story line and an awesome lineup of characters! I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy this series! And guess what? Book 4 is already in the works! Brew or Die will be released in April 2017! EEK!
